Young Talent at Red Light Jazz
For every edition of Red Light Jazz, bassist Veerle van der Wal brings young, talented musicians to De Bakkerswinkel on Warmoesstraat. This year, she presents a quartet consisting of two Scandinavian saxophonists and a Dutch rhythm section of drums and double bass. It’s a timeless and playful quartet that mainly performs jazz standards, while also presenting original compositions.
The Formation of the Quartet
All musicians study at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where they first met.
Musical Chemistry and Growth
From the very first downbeat, there was both a musical and personal connection. After entering the studio together in March 2026, they now perform regularly at various venues across Amsterdam.
