Yvonne Weijers touches hearts with jazz and Latin music
Singer Yvonne Weijers and her band perform smooth jazz and vibrant Latin music. With her beautiful, clear voice, Yvonne always knows how to touch her audience. She has a flawless instinct for selecting songs that suit her perfectly. Jazz standards, bossa nova, rumba and samba, blues, ballads—it all comes together in her performances. She sings effortlessly in English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Dutch.
Yvonne and her musicians have enjoyed long careers in music, performing in clubs, cafés, and at numerous festivals. Yvonne’s latest project involves singing in Dutch: bringing the beautiful music of George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Madeleine Peyroux, and The Buena Vista Social Club to life in her native language. Poet Marten Janse provided the Dutch adaptations of these well-known songs and compositions.
At Restaurant-Café In de Waag on Sunday afternoon, June 8, you’ll hear authentic jazz and Latin music, interspersed with Yvonne’s new Dutch-language repertoire. This surprising combination is sure to spark enthusiasm among the audience.
