About Vox Sturnus
Vox Sturnus is an adventurous and creative vocal ensemble made up of six women with diverse musical backgrounds (ranging from the Stargaze Ensemble and the Edison-winning Odelion to the Metropole Orkest), ages (between 29 and 53), and nationalities (NL, NO, DK, IS). They sing in five languages. All members of Vox Sturnus sing, play instruments, compose, and improvise. Half of the group is trained as vocalists, the other half as instrumentalists.
Education, Ambition, and a Vision for the Future
A Vox Sturnus performance immerses you in a rich and varied palette of sound colors, with the ensemble delivering a raw, authentic sound. The performance creates an electrifying alchemy of vocal harmonies, subtle string arrangements, and raw improvisation—shifting fluidly between genres such as jazz, folk, choral music from northern regions, and more experimental vocal styles.
Debut EP: Traveling Light
Vanaf juni 2025 toert het all female ensemble Vox Sturnus door het land met hun debuut EP Traveling Light. Op de EP staan zelfgeschreven composities in verschillende talen, geïnspireerd door verschillende vrouwelijke makers. Zo zijn er gedichten van Tove Ditlefsen en Tjitske Jansen gebruikt en is een van de stukken een ode aan de Noors-Franse kunstschilder Anna-Eva Bergman.
At the North Sea Jazz Festival
In July, Vox Sturnus will perform as part of the Martin Fondse Voice Orchestra at the North Sea Jazz Festival, and starting in November, they will tour with the ensemble throughout the country.
