Ruth Geerse – Powerful Ruth Style in De Hartjes
Ruth Geerse is a Dutch singer, composer, pianist, and guitarist. Over the years, Ruth has performed in a wide variety of ensembles, from rock bands to big bands and soul groups, as well as a singer-songwriter, accompanying herself on piano and guitar. In 2002, she graduated from the Rotterdam Conservatory, and since then has performed at events such as the Uitmarkt, the Vondelpark Open Air Theatre, various jazz festivals, and reached the finals of the Grote Prijs van Nederland.
A compelling voice with soul
What defines Ruth as a vocalist is her ability to unite many musical styles into one: the powerful Ruth style. She possesses soul power and jazz timing. Her strong lyrics show that she is not only a singer and musician but also a gifted songwriter who makes you reflect deeply on life’s matters.
Live in Café De Hartjes
For their debut album Music for President, Sanna composed seven songs. Bassist Sven contributed three of his own compositions. After their album launch in Amsterdam, the trio performed at leading jazz venues and festivals, including the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2019. Their second album, titled Something About Time, was released in 2022.
