Biggles Bigband – Swinging Class Since 1985
Biggles Bigband is a 25-piece jazz orchestra led by Adrie Braat, longtime bassist of the renowned Dutch Swing College Band. The Biggles Bigband performs music from the golden era of swing, bringing to life the magical sounds of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and legendary jazz vocalists like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. The ensemble features 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, 5 saxophones, guitar, piano, acoustic bass, and drums.
Conductor Adrie Braat founded the band in 1985, and it has been a great success ever since. Based in Amsterdam, the band performed for years every Monday night at the famous Casablanca on the Zeedijk, right in the heart of Amsterdam.
Today, there are only a few big bands left playing authentic jazz from the swing era. That’s part of why there’s such global demand to hear—and dance to—this style of music. Thanks to the high level of musicianship and spontaneity of the Biggles Bigband players, their energy flows straight from the stage into the audience. Wherever Biggles performs, the crowd always responds with enthusiasm. No concert goes by without clapping, dancing, or tapping feet!
