From raw percussion to boundary-breaking sounds, the Bimhuis teams up with the Red Light Jazz Festival for a special K Night, showcasing two exciting and innovative acts from South Korea: the percussion trio Groove& and the five-piece ensemble Yonglee & The Doltang.
Groove& is a dynamic percussion trio that spans a broad spectrum of sounds and instruments. Their music is both delicate and sensual, yet powerfully grounded.
The Doltang is centered around the emotionally charged, melodic compositions of pianist Yonglee. These can erupt into extraordinary improvisations where synthesizers, electric guitars, and percussion become deeply intertwined. Think contemporary jazz meets progressive rock futuristic and genre-defying at its core.
