The Monkey Trio – Sultry Jazz Sounds in a Historic Café
On Friday, June 6, pianist Dick Barten, guitarist Rolf Koppijn, and double bassist Rob Veenhuizen return to the stage as The Monkey Trio at Café In ’t Aepjen, located in one of Amsterdam’s last two remaining historic wooden buildings.
The trio boasts an extensive repertoire where the swing never depends on the volume knob. As a tightly-knit rhythm section, they have supported numerous “fools of jazz” great and small across the globe, from Ghana and Jamaica to Thailand, Lithuania, and Canada. At Café In ’t Aepjen, however, the spotlight is fully on the three gentlemen themselves.
