The Origins of Something About Sanna
Something About Sanna was formed in the summer of 2017, after an immediate musical connection between Sanna van Vliet (vocals/piano), Sven Schuster (bass), and Joost Kesselaar (drums) during their first performance. There was spontaneity, alertness, and plenty of room for musical twists and turns.
A Unique Sound and Interaction
Since then, the trio has been performing original compositions with a distinctive and personal sound. Their repertoire and approach set them apart from other piano trios. The joy of playing radiates from Something About Sanna, and the interaction between the musicians and the audience adds an extra layer of energy to their performances.
Albums and Performances
For their debut album Music for President, Sanna composed seven songs, while bassist Sven contributed three original pieces. Following their album release in Amsterdam, the trio performed at leading jazz venues and festivals, including the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2019. Their second album, Something About Time, was released in 2022.
