Sadewa Bekker – Young Talent with a Unique Voice
Sadewa Bekker is a young Dutch trumpeter. He began studying at Codarts, the Rotterdam Conservatory’s music program, at the age of twelve. There, his talent was nurtured by Dutch jazz greats such as Jan van Duikeren and Jarmo Hoogendijk. Before long, Sadewa was sharing the stage with drumming legend John Engels and performing regularly.
In 2023, Sadewa took part in the prestigious Princess Christina Competition, where he won third prize. That same year, he performed his own composition at a sold-out Concertgebouw during the New Year’s concert of the Netherlands Wind Ensemble.
A signature sound
Since September 2024, Sadewa has continued his musical studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He has already performed as a soloist with the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw and in Peter Beets’ New Jazz Orchestra!
Despite his young age, Sadewa makes no secret of his ambitions. He hopes to one day release his own repertoire as a bandleader — or as he puts it:
“I want to tell my own story.”
