Mascini Jazz Duo - featuring versatile saxophonist Mo van der Does

Core duo featuring various guest soloists at Red Light Jazz

Especially for the Red Light Jazz festival, Mascini has formed a permanent duo consisting of piano and guitar, which has invited a special guest soloist every day of the festival. On Sundayafternoon, June 8, the duo Berend van den Berg (piano) and Joep Lumeij (double bass) will playin the café with guest soloist Mo van der Does (saxophone).

Berend van den Berg: Jazz as Second Nature

At a young age when Berend van den Berg started playing the piano, he already loved improvising, arranging and composing. After Berend had discovered the founders of jazz, playing jazz music became his second nature. Playing together with other musicians in front of an audience is a lifelonginner motivation for Berend.

Joep Lumeij: From Van Blues naar Jazz pionier

Joep Lumeij traveled with numerous theater and music productions throughout the Netherlands and Europe. Blues was his first love. Later he discovered jazz, without forgetting the blues. Lumeij was themusical leader of the Dutch singing group Deep River Quartet for eleven years. He also played withthe Millennium Jazz Orchestra with which he performed with many international (jazz) soloists.

Mo van der Does: An upcoming talent

Young sax player Mo van der Does is regarded as an emerging talent in the Dutch jazz scene. He has his own group, the Mo van der Does Motet, and plays/played in various other formations, includingthe Metropole Orchestra and the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw. ​​He has also won severalawards and has released two critically acclaimed albums.
