DOUBLE ESPRESSO

Four saxes, four women, one sound. Double Espresso has been a striking presence on national and international stages since 2003. The quartet played at Jazz in Duketown, among others, and at jazz festivals in Haarlem, Laren and Amersfoort. In addition, Double Espresso played at the Holland House Queensday Event (London), in the Bimhuis, the Regentenkamer, Hot Jazz Club (Lisbon), the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Sohar Music Festival in Oman.

The only female improvising saxophone quartet in the Netherlands charms its listeners with a diverse jazz repertoire, ranging from Zez Confrey’s Dizzy Fingers and other hits from the Roaring Twenties to own compositions and work written by Martin Fondse, Oene van Geel and other top Dutch arrangers.

Double Espresso is constantly looking for new balances between intimate free improvisation and heavy arrangements. The exceptional line-up of two alto and two baritone saxophones provides unprecedented possibilities with steaming basslines and screaming solos.
