Biggles Big band

Swing classics by a 25-piece jazz orchestra

Biggles Big Band is a 25-piece jazz orchestra led by Adrie Braat, who has been the bassist of the renowned Dutch Swing College Band for decades. The band performs music from the great swing era, bringing to life the magical sounds of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and jazz vocalists such as Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. The orchestra features 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, 5 saxophones, guitar, piano, acoustic bass, and drums.

From Casablanca to today: an Amsterdam tradition

Conductor Adrie Braat founded the orchestra in 1985, and since then Biggles Big Band has been a great success. Based in Amsterdam, the band performed for many years every Monday night at the famous Casablanca on the Zeedijk, right in the heart of the city.

Energy flowing from stage to audience

Today, only a few big bands still perform jazz from the swing era. This explains why audiences from all over the world continue to seek out this music to listen to—and to dance to. Thanks to the high level of musicianship and spontaneity of the Biggles Big Band players, their energy flows off the stage and connects directly with the audience. Wherever they perform, they receive an enthusiastic response. No concert ends without applause, dancing, or foot-stomping!
