Ronald Douglas & Rob van Bavel: A Life in Songs
Two artists, one story
Two outstanding artists with impressive careers began collaborating in the 1990s. Although they followed different musical paths, singer Ronald Douglas and pianist Rob van Bavel continue to find each other time and again. On Sunday afternoon, June 7, at Theater Mascini, they take the audience on a musical journey, a story in which lyrics are central and carried by surprising arrangements.
Ronald Douglas: an international voice
Ronald Douglas has released five solo albums, with his latest, Lotus Blossom, being the most successful. In 2006, he became the first European to win an online jazz competition, earning him a performance at the East Coast Jazz Festival in Washington. Douglas has taught vocals in Amsterdam and at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Zwolle and has performed with top musicians in the Netherlands and abroad throughout his career.
Rob van Bavel: master of the piano
Rob van Bavel is an internationally acclaimed jazz pianist with a career spanning nearly 40 years. He can be heard on more than 200 recordings and has worked with jazz legends such as Wynton Marsalis, Woody Shaw, and Chet Baker. He is also a long-time educator at the conservatories of The Hague and Amsterdam and a sought-after masterclass teacher worldwide. Of the five albums released by Ronald Douglas, Rob van Bavel contributed to four.
