Bout du Monde
A Quartet with Experience
Bout du Monde (“End of the World”) is a jazz quartet consisting of four musicians, each with an impressive track record.
Individual Excellence
Robert Mollee (saxophone) masters a wide range of musical styles and has performed in various line-ups with artists such as Ronald Douglas, Deborah Carter, Greetje Kauffeld, John Engels, and many others. Joris Nederpelt Lazarom studied jazz piano at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. He has performed with both large and small ensembles in the Netherlands and abroad and is a producer at his own platform, 12notes.nl.
Rob IJsendijk began his career in pop music and, via Berklee College of Music, quickly found his way into the jazz world. He has played with countless musicians. Drummer Aad Faase graduated from the Hilversum Conservatory, where he built a solid foundation for his musical future. He developed his own distinctive drumming style with explosive elements and has worked with artists such as singer Deborah Brown.
Interplay and Future
The four musicians of Bout du Monde challenge each other at every concert, constantly exploring their musical boundaries. They know each other from various ensembles and have already performed together in different combinations. They have also been regular performers at previous editions of Red Light Jazz. However, Bout du Monde is their own project.
Their debut album Hirondelle was released in May 2020 and mainly features compositions by Steve Swallow. Their second album Uncovered followed in 2022. A third album is expected in 2026.
