First Names Announced for Red Light Jazz 2025
On June 6, 7, and 8, Red Light Jazz will be organized for the 12th consecutive time in and around the vibrant heart of Amsterdam: the world-famous Red Light District. Since its first edition in 2014, the multi-day jazz festival in the capital has grown into a major international event that brings together Amsterdammers and visitors from both the Netherlands and abroad to enjoy the lively sound of jazz music in the historic city center.
Jazz with history in an iconic setting
Red Light Jazz combines traditional and modern jazz with the unique atmosphere of the city’s oldest district, where jazz was introduced to the Netherlands in the 1920s and 1930s by American sailors. The festival is not only a tribute to the music genre rooted in the blues, but also to the Red Light District itself a much-discussed neighborhood with a rich culture and history.
From cafés to churches: jazz in unique locations
The diversity of venues, ranging from historic cafés, bars, hotels, a church, and theaters to the occasional unexpected outdoor space, creates an unforgettable experience for visitors. In addition, just like last year, Red Light Jazz is making a special stop at the Zandkasteel in Amsterdam Southeast, due to that district’s unique connection to Amsterdam’s jazz history.
