Sven Schuster Quintet ft. Esther van Hees

The Sven Schuster Quintet feat. Esther van Hees plays work from the American Songbook, especially a combination of New Orleans and New York Jazz.

Acoustic/electric bassist, music teacher, composer, arranger and conductor Sven Schuster was born in 1965 in Wolfsburg, Germany and started playing the piano at the age of 14. A year later he also took up bass. Sven studied at the Musikhochschule Graz in Austria from 1984-1988 and continued his studies at the conservatory in Hilversum, where he obtained his diploma in 1991.

Sven played with an endless list of fantastic musicians such as Efraim Trujillo, Anton Goudsmit, Ferdinand Povel, Ack van Rooyen, Han Bennink, Steve Altenberg, John Engels, Rick Margitza, Dale Barlow, Jim Hall and toured Europe, Africa, Jamaica, the USA and Canada. Sven can also be heard on countless CDs.

The musicians who are part of Schuster’s quintet on Sunday, June 9, have also all made their mark in the jazz world.

Radio presenter Co de Kloet [NPO Soul and Jazz] said about singer Esther van Hees: “There are voices that touch you from the first second you hear them. That’s what I experienced when I heard Esthers voice this first time.”
