Koen Schouten

Koen Schouten (1977) is a music expert with a genre-defying view and a love for ‘real music’. For over ten years he was a writer for Dutch newspapers De Volkskrant and Het Parool, he worked as a radio host and programmer for VPRO and live stream Bimhuis Radio. Schouten is host for a.o. North Sea Jazz Festival, Jazz International and Music Meeting Nijmegen. He works regularly as a cultural advisor, teacher and speaker.

Besides that he tours Holland and the rest of the world as a baritone saxophonist with a.o. Dulfer Plays Blues, The Jig and Flip & De Noormannen and he could be seen in theaters as storyteller in shows that he wrote: New York Round Midnight and Swingin’ Harlem.
