As a teenager, he saw Kid Dynamite perform. The raw and electrifying sound that the Surinamese saxophonist conjured from his instrument would stay with Dulfer forever. It would shape him. Years later, he composed the Kid Dynamite Suite, which he performed multiple times with the Amsterdam Saxophone Quartet and the Surinam Music Ensemble.
