Massimo Imperatore Trio
The Massimo Imperatore Trio is a project led by Italian guitarist Massimo Imperatore, known for its heart-wrenching melodies, free improvisation, and narrative-driven compositions. Influenced by the abstract nature of expressionism, Massimo incorporates unconventional structures that challenge traditional forms, blurring the lines between jazz and avant-garde.
Elements such as open-string playing, guitar harmonies, touches of atonality, and distinctive grooves are uniquely woven into his music with a signature flair.
In January 2025, the Massimo Imperatore Trio was named one of the finalists in the Keep an Eye Records competition.
About Massimo Imperatore
Guitarist and composer Massimo Imperatore was born in Naples. Since 2017, he has lived in Amsterdam, where he earned his Master’s degree in jazz guitar from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2020.
