Roos Jonker

Roos started singing and playing saxophone, harp and piano at a young age. She developed her talent towards traditional jazz and improvisation in the Jazz department of the conservatory of Amsterdam. Roos was lead singer with the Glenn Miller Orchestra and toured in Europe. In addition, she sang with various bands and projects such as Dox ‘Family, Benny Sings, Kindred Spirits Ensemble and performed at festivals like North Sea Jazz and Lowlands. She also started working on her own compositions and productions.

Her debut album ‘Mmmmm’ (2010) reached the top of the Japanese charts. She received the title ‘Breakthrough Album of the Year’ in the category Jazz on iTunes. Besides Japan and the Netherlands, the record has also been released in Thailand, Taiwan, Korea and India.

In addition to her solo career, Roos emerges as a producer and works on various projects with and for others.

Roos Jonker’s Red Light Jazz performance in Mata Hari last year was a great success. That has led the entrepreneurs of ‘the hidden gem of the historic Red Light District’ to invite Roos again for a special concert at Mata Hari on Sunday June 3rd.
