Robin Nolan was born in Vietnam in 1968 and then traveled the world with his parents. In Hong Kong his father, a guitarist himself, introduced him to the guitar; Robin then moved to England and took courses in Leeds and in London.

When Robin visited the annual Django Reinhardt Festival in Samois-Sur-Seine in 1991, he fell under the spell of the Gypsy Jazz. Nolan has since become an internationally respected authority in the field of Gypsy Jazz. He performed at the Lincoln Center, at the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Toronto Jazz Festival, DjangoFest and many other stages, but still has Amsterdam as his home base.

Together with saxophonist Benjamin Herman, Nolan released the EP Swing De Paris in 2015, followed by a tour. In his own Robin Nolan Trio he plays together with his brother Kevin on rhythm guitar and Arnoud van den Berg on bass.

The Robin Nolan Trio can be seen an enjoyed live in Kapitein Zeppos on Sunday 9 June, with jazz violinist Hady Mouallem as special guest. Hady performed in 1991 in the Concertgebouw with Stéphane Grappelli. It will be a wonderful Gypsy Jazz concert in Django Reinardt style.
