MARTIN FONDSE & JEROEN DE RIJK + MIGUEL BOELENS

When Jeroen brought Gino Vannelli to the Netherlands in 2000 to perform with the Metropole Orchestra, Martin wrote arrangements for this legendary project, that also performed on the main stage of the North Sea Jazz Festival.

From that moment on, Martin and Jeroen have regular contact with each other. They have been friends for years who enjoy the good Amsterdam life, with a preference for good coffee, in-depth conversations and (of course) Ajax. In the (inter)national music scene, both have built up an impressive track record over the years. Martin is winner of the Boy Edgar prize and he played all over the world with the Brazilian superstar Lenine and with Manu Dibango.

Jeroen played with, among others, the Icelandic jazz funk formation Mezzoforte, Yellowjackets, Toots Thielemans and played tracks by Bruno Mars and Michael Jackson.

Separately, Martin and Jeroen have also been involved in projects with, among others, George Duke, Pat Metheny and the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw.

Recently they were ‘finally’ brought together on one stage. This was in a trio with Dutch trumpeter Eric Vloeimans in the Amsterdam Roode Bioscoop. At the 2021 edition of the Red Light Jazz Festival Martin & Jeroen will perform with Miguel Boelens, a saxophonist with an impressive sound. Miguel can play all styles and at the same time always remains himself. Miguel was Young VIP in 2006 and since 1998 a member of jazz trio Dimami, with whom he has released six CDs. Miguel played with Seven Eleven, Dodge, Bob Color, Hans Dulfer, Martin Fondse Oktemble, Frank Boeijen Groep, the Groove Troopers, Raise the Roof!, New Cool Collective, Cuby & the Blizzards, Beef!, the New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra, the Jazzinvaders, Racoon, Corrie van Binsbergen, Ladies of Soul, Gare du Nord, Bløf and many others.
